Lee_Sukju
Lee Sukju, a first-generation hyperrealist in Korea, has dedicated over 40 years to establishing the essence of representational painting. In the 1970s, a pivotal period in Korean contemporary art dominated by abstract painting, Lee introduced a new trend in figurative painting with his hyperrealistic works. Unlike American hyperrealism, which aimed to depict a mechanized and emotionally detached modern society, Lee Seokju expresses personal emotions and feelings through hyperrealistic representation.
